*CV formats vary widely from country to country and a frequent question when applying is whether you should provide a photo with your CV, when it is not specified in the job announcement. Here are some general guidelines that will help you decide when to send a photo with your CV.
Include a photo in European countries (except Ireland, UK, Netherlands and Sweden). In Germany, for example, companies are not allowed to request a photo in the job announcement due to privacy laws. Many jobseekers, however, include in their resumes a link to their social media profiles, where a photo is recommended.
Important: If you decide to add a photo to your CV, be sure that it is a businesslike portrait - we cannot highlight this fact enough. Photos should not be older than six months, show only the head and shoulders on a neutral background, and feature you in a professional attire.
